About Me

I'm Natalie Garwood, a senior from Utica High School.

I've been a student journalist since my first year of yearbook in eighth grade, and it's easy to say that journalism has become one of the biggest aspects of my life. Now I'm the editor-in-chief, a section editor, photography editor, and the social media manager of Utica's Warrior yearbook, the photography editor of the Arrow newspaper, and a member of Quill & Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists. I've won a total of 36 MIPA awards for journalism since eighth grade and hope to continue involvement in the organization beyond graduation.

 

My journalistic resume isn't complete without mentioning my pride and joy: the Photo of the Day series on the @uhswarrior Instagram page. Every school day, I post a photo to promote the yearbook. Through Photo of the Day, I was invited to be a part of our district's student-run Instagram as well, @UCSstudents. 

 

Outside of journalism, I take my knowledge of design and photography to design the playbill for Utica's theatre department. I'm also photographing our upcoming show Chicago. Along with designing the program, I'm also the head of lighting and a member of International Thespian Society Troupe #4260. 

 

I'm involved in the National Honor Society and Utica's Dungeons & Dragons Club.
