I think by this point in my portfolio you've seen how much I love photographing the marching band, but this photo shows more than that. I also love leaning into photography strategies like rule of thirds and leading lines. Seeing the capes on the drum majors' uniforms inspired me to do something. It couldn't be a straight-on shot. It needed something to make it dynamic, hence her arm leading your eyes up and to her face.
